John Wilkes, Executive Director
Sunrise Theatre for the Performing Arts
Fort Pierce, Florida
My association with Mr. Hines as the Executive Director
of the Sunrise Theatre has been a most positive and rewarding relationship. This relationship is twofold: Walt has been a great contributor to the marketing plan, its implementation and the theatre's success since my arrival at the Sunrise 10 and a half years ago by volunteering his time and talent.
By coordinating his students to work on poster design and other printed materials over that period he acted as an incredible ambassador for Indian River State College.
It has been truly an honor to have worked with Mr. Hines
and his many students during my tenure here at the Sunrise Theatre and I can always count on Walt to not only produce quality work product for us but a quality experience for his students on the assignments he has initiated and supervised.
Mr. Hines not only meets the commitments he exceeds those promises in terms of creativity, collaboration and delivery. We are all fortunate to have Mr. Hines in our respective institutions and the leadership and talent he brings in his various professional and volunteer roles.

Walter has an incredible sense of design and color. He is professional, attentive and an inspiration! As a professor he has always been very giving and as a professional graphic designer, he is a visionary! He understands the trends and knows how to use them in an inventive manner. I have had the pleasure to work with Walter on many occasions. We worked at the University of Miami where he taught graphic design. Walter’s classes were always packed with the latest information and he had the ability to reach out to students and obtain fantastic results from them. We exchanged many ideas about work. Filling the shoes of another art director is never an easy task, especially when you follow someone as talented as Walt Hines. The files Walt left behind at Executive Sports were in pristine condition which made for my transition into the position a pleasure. He was also extremely helpful in answering questions when called upon to insure I would not fail. His reputation as being creative remained in the halls of Executive Sports until my departure in October of 2000. I found his professionalism unsurpassed only by his skills and creativity.
Over the years Walt and l have gotten to know each other as associates. We show each other projects that we have both designed and discuss trends in our field. He has made the transition from being a print designer to becoming one of the few, true multimedia designers in South Florida. Walt, took the time to educate himself in all the Adobe software platforms on his own time after his work day was done.
Walt Hines teaches students how to think creatively and handle the pressure that is required in today's competitive communication market. As a designer and teacher, he combines his energies to inspire his students to be the best in design, typography, identity and publication design. He is an educator who will not only teach, but serve as a mentor to his students.

Walt, thank you for the pleasure of working with you on the 2015 conference program for the Society for Marketing Advances, Inc. (SMA).
I am amazed at your work ethic, doing whatever was necessary to assure that the end product was perfect and delivered to the conference on time. The conference program was amazing. Not only did conference attendees rave about the program, several asked for extra copies to share as the benchmark for other organizations they are members of.
I have worked with other designers in the past, and can honestly say you are the BEST. You set the bar for quality. THANK YOU for your endless dedication and commitment to the client.
Ruth McSween, Curator
National Navy UDT-SEAL Museum
Fort Pierce, Florida
Mr. Hines partnered with me to help design the Medal of Honor display at National Navy UDT-SEAL Museum. The display features the five US Navy SEALs who have received the Medal of Honor, along with a description of their gallantry. A crucial aspect of this was to capture the overall significance of the sacrifices of these five brave men. During Mr. Hines’ service with us, it became immediately clear that he is very goal oriented and is able to work extremely well in a team. In fact, his personality and work ethic combined to make him one of the best people I have ever worked with.
Augmenting this, were the facts that he was keenly devoted to the task at hand and also understood the importance and meaning of the display. Mr. Hines demonstrated from early on that he understood what the National Navy UDT-SEAL Museum represents. He was well organized and thrived under what can best be describedas challenging and sometimes difficult conditions. Nevertheless, not only was Mr. Hines able to adapt, he did so in a manner which was efficient and expedient.
Furthermore, not only did he understand the details and precision of the project, he never lost sight of the “big picture:” always keeping a sharp eye on the theme and the visitors’ overall satisfaction. Needless to say, the final product was well beyond our expectations which were considerably high to begin with. It was first class and very deserving of the men it represented.
