John Wilkes, Executive Director
Sunrise Theatre for the Performing Arts
Fort Pierce, Florida
My association with Mr. Hines as the Executive Director
of the Sunrise Theatre has been a most positive and rewarding relationship. This relationship is twofold: Walt has been a great contributor to the marketing plan, its implementation and the theatre's success since my arrival at the Sunrise 10 and a half years ago by volunteering his time and talent.
By coordinating his students to work on poster design and other printed materials over that period he acted as an incredible ambassador for Indian River State College.
It has been truly an honor to have worked with Mr. Hines
and his many students during my tenure here at the Sunrise Theatre and I can always count on Walt to not only produce quality work product for us but a quality experience for his students on the assignments he has initiated and supervised.
Mr. Hines not only meets the commitments he exceeds those promises in terms of creativity, collaboration and delivery. We are all fortunate to have Mr. Hines in our respective institutions and the leadership and talent he brings in his various professional and volunteer roles.

Grand Harbor Golf & Beach Club
Vero Beach, Florida
I want to thank the IRSC design students who participated in our new logo development project for Grand Harbor Golf & Beach Club. In the beginning, we offered an overview of our goals and objectives of a new logo to the class. We then called upon the creativity of each student to show by coming up with their renditions of a future logo for Grand Harbor.
The attention to detail and creativity of each student’s power point presentation was exceptional. They could all see my visual personality as the time and effort was taken to add the logos to a broad range of areas where we would use the logo in a private club and community setting. The students provided examples of their proposed logos on items such as stationary, golf flags, our front entrance wall, golf apparel and even our existing dining room placemats. Overall, I was completely impressed and appreciative of everyone’s time and efforts in taking on our new logo project.

Filling the shoes of another art director is never an easy task, especially when you follow someone as talented as Walt Hines. The files Walt left behind at Executive Sports were in pristine condition which made for my transition into the position a pleasure. He was also extremely helpful in answering questions when called upon to insure I would not fail. His reputation as being creative remained in the halls of Executive Sports until
my departure in October of 2000. I found his professionalism unsurpassed only by his skills and creativity.
Over the years Walt and l have gotten to know each other as associates. We show each other projects that we have both designed and discuss trends in our field. He has made the transition from being a print designer to becoming one of the few, true multimedia designers in South Florida. Walt, took the time to educate himself in all the Adobe software platforms on his own time after his work day was done.
Walt Hines teaches students how to think creatively
and handle the pressure that is required in today's competitive communication market. As a designer and teacher, he combines his energies to inspire his students to be the best in design, typography, identity and publication design. He is an educator who will not only teach, but serve as a mentor to his students.
